Messy: carelessly made or done : not careful or precise
No one wants to live a “messy,” life do they? No one wants to live a life that is not careful, or not precise…do they?
WE ALL LIVE A MESSY LIFE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
I am someone who has fought the idea of living a messy life. I struggled with understanding who would want to lead such a life. The last year of my life has been the messiest year of my life. I was texting back and forth with someone who I respect very much and she mentioned to me that things are “messy,” right now. She is married and her and her husband recently purchased a home, and they are in that phase of putting things where they go. Thats when it became very apparent to me just how beautiful a messy life is. Sure, scatter (figurative and literal) is never fun, and neither is being messy in general. Think about a mess. Things all over the place, waiting to get put back in their place. Things that are unclean that need to be cleaned, and stuff that simply needs thrown away. Now, lets apply that to our everyday lives.
The last year of my life has been terribly messy. I have become very overwhelmed and at times I felt as if maybe a messy life was the easiest way to live. It was then that I realized a mess can be cleaned up, even if it takes time. The last year I have been putting “things,” back where they belong. I have been “cleaning up,” things that need cleaned up, and I have thrown away a LOT of baggage. In that mess that we ALL dread, we find new things we forget we had, we place things in new places, and we get rid of things that have done us no good over the years.
A messy life is not always a bad life.
Now, it should never become a life-STYLE, but it is okay to have a messy life temporarily. From what I have learned, a messy life simply means that you respect yourself enough to clean it up, and get rid of things and people that do not want to help.
What a beautiful mess we live.
