Oh the places you’ll go!

4:23 am and I am sitting in the Indianapolis airport, maybe this will become a new thing? (Reference to a prior post about traveling to Oregon).

I was hoping and praying that this trip would not be like last in the sense that I would be delayed, delayed, delayed, and then cancelled. I was right!…for about 32 minutes until the flight I was supposed to get on was delayed, delayed, delayed…delayed again, and then cancelled. The amount of tears that were flowing down my face as hundreds of people passed me are more than I would like to admit. This trip to New Orleans is planned for only a mere three days, so having one whole day cut out of my trip was not sounding too pleasant to me. After lots of manipulating the Delta Airlines system, a wonderful employee found a flight for me that would leave at 5am the following morning; quite honestly just about nine hours later than my original flight would have landed. I am okay with this, I have to be. The weather wins. The weather wins.

I am all about meeting new people, and unashamedly, people watching! I have met a soldier who was one flight away from home yesterday after being away from his wife and two kids for over twelve months! I met an older gentleman who served for seventeen years and could navigate his way through the deserts and swamps at night, but was having a hard time finding his gate. After a twenty minute conversation, I led him to his gate which was right across from where we were but I don’t think he recognized that, and that is okay! I got to talk with a Delta employee who has been faithfully working with Delta for twenty-seven years and informed me of taking a total of thirty-nine days off in all those years! Now, I am sitting next to a mother and her screaming baby who just so happened to be sitting next to me on this next flight. What a joy!

This is only stop one of four total flights I will be taking, and I have actually enjoyed a majority of this whirlwind trip! Off to Atlanta I go!
