Be different, too.

“Some of the best people are the ones who don’t fit into boxes”

They cannot fit into life’s “pre-made” boxes because they were crafted for so much more than ordinary. When I say “they,” I’m sure you are asking just who I am talking about. I am talking about the beautiful people that walk this earth and are constantly labeled as different  because they were born with a gift, or as some would call a disability, or a “syndrome.”

I am talking about the people who are truly no different than you and me. Sure, some may look a little different, or think a little slower, or walk a little sideways, or talk a little less, but “they,” are people just like you and me. They are smart in different ways. They are creative in ways not even you and I could ever figure out. They memorize things in ten minutes what would take you and me two whole days of reciting. They can paint you a picture you’d think was made by Picasso… if you give them time. That is all it takes. Time.

By giving your time, you are giving hope and love to someone who has been made to believe they are different, and aren’t deserving of such things. Giving your time to someone who needs just a few extra seconds, can create a lifetime of belief in themselves. By giving your time, you are giving them an understanding that they ARE worthy of anything and everything, just like everyone else. Special needs children are some of this worlds most valuable hidden treasures. These people are put under so much “heat,” by this world, it’s no surprise to me that they are diamonds. Diamonds are made under heat after all.

So, what’s my point? My point is that you, too, should give a little extra time. Let them show you all of their gifts. What is important to them, is important to me.

My point is… I encourage YOU to be “different,” too. Be different and give them the time, love, and understanding they deserve in the same way you do.
