The day us college kids look forward to-Thanksgiving day that is! We finally get a nice home cooked meal and have the leftovers to prove it. We get to watch some football with our families and get asked thousands of questions that we don’t yet have the answers to. It’s really a beautiful day.
People use this day to reflect on what they are thankful for and be sure to post it on social media for all to see! Nothing wrong with that.
But, what about the days before and after thanksgiving? What are you thankful for then?
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
What if someone wrapped you a present and never gave it to you? I know I’d be left a little upset and extra curious to know what that present was.
Your words are no different. There are often so many times we fail to unwrap our presents (in the form of words) of gratitude to those around us. Telling someone that you are thankful for them is fast, easy and cheap: the American way!
Thanksgiving is literally a day to give thanks, I get that. BUT, there are 364 other days each year to do that exact thing. Do not let those days pass you by. Do not become too busy to let someone know that you love them. Do not become too lazy to tell someone they are important to you because you assume they already know. Surprise: often times, they have no idea. Do not become too self absorbed to forget those around you that hold you up. Do not become too weary to give thanks for the smallest things in the hardest times. Do not be afraid to remind yourself that YOU are just as worthy of being loved as everyone else around you.

Miss an opportunity to express your “unwrapped” gratitude.
You do not have forever to open it.
