You guys… I have no idea.
I do know that he is one of the sweetest animals I have ever met in my entire life. He will be 9 months old this month which means I have been loving on him almost 7 months now. When my last relationship ended there was lots of conversation about finding this little guy a new home because she already had a dog who was nearly 6 years old and I was in no way shape or form ready to care for a dog on my own. The “search” I put on to find him a new home ended within a week and I knew he was mine. He was supposed to stay with me…so he did. I’ve had a (handsome, smart and sassy) cat for almost three years and I was afraid about Mateo and Leo getting along being the only animals in the house. Let me tell you…they are the best of friends. They don’t go anywhere without each other in the house.
When you give a girl a dog…a lot of things change for her. She has to rearrange her schedule so that the dog isn’t home alone too long, budget her money differently so she can adequately care for the dog and so on. BUT…when you give a girl a dog and she gets all of those other things in order…her life will change. She will find a new sense of commitment that does not come with a cat. She will gain a new level of patience because training a puppy is not easy. She will learn his quirks and have to be okay with them…because he’s a puppy. She will buy him enough clothes that he has his own drawer in the dresser. She will spend countless hours doing research about the right kind of food to give him or making sure the treats she is going to buy are as close to natural as possible. OOoo! And when she drops him off for his first day of doggy daycare (seriously-do it for your dog even just once or twice a month) she will cry and the receptionist will give her tissues and call her throughout the day to let her know that sweet Mateo is doing just fine.
And when you give this girl her Mateo…her life won’t ever look the same.
I know some of you aren’t dog (or animal) people and this blog may not make the most sense to you…but whatever thing you have in your life that’s extremely valuable to you…is what Mateo is to me & maybe that helps you understand a little more 🙂
Here’s to as many years together as doggy heaven allows
